On one of the XM stations today, they played the entire "Like a Rock" by Bob Seger. I was amazed. I remember when the song came out in '86. It was a hit (yes, really, it was!). Then !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! — but they played it so much, I forgot the lyrics — and never knew the impact they never had because I was too young.

So. I had a birthday a few days ago. The kind with digits that make you sober, already long past the years when one looked forward to that annual ritual. But this song made me remember why I get up in the morning. It's where I started. It's still where I'm going. Thank you, Bob.
Stood there boldly
Sweatin' in the sun
Felt like a million
Felt like number one
The height of summer
I'd never felt that strong
Like a rock
I was eighteen
Didn't have a care
Working for peanuts
Not a dime to spare
But I was lean and
Solid everywhere
Like a rock
My hands were steady
My eyes were clear and bright
My walk had purpose
My steps were quick and light
And I held firmly
To what I felt was right
Like a rock
Like a rock, I was strong as I could be
Like a rock, nothin' ever got to me
Like a rock, I was something to see
Like a rock
And I stood arrow straight
Unencumbered by the weight
Of all these hustlers and their schemes
I stood proud, I stood tall
High above it all
I still believed in my dreams
Twenty years now
Where'd they go?
Twenty years
I don't know
Sit and I wonder sometimes
Where they've gone
And sometimes late at night
When I'm bathed in the firelight
The moon comes callin' a ghostly white
And I recall
I recall
Like a rock. standin' arrow straight
Like a rock, chargin' from the gate
Like a rock, carryin' the weight
Like a rock
Like a rock, the sun upon my skin
Like a rock, hard against the wind
Like a rock, I see myself again
Like a rock

The "Like a Rock" ads always make me want to run and buy an old Chevy truck.
I live in Europe.
I have no idea why someone would want a pickup as a private vehicle.
Still!!!!!
This is how good these are.

@ Klaus Schmoll and norskracer:
I don't think it's really that difficult to understand. I personally don't want one, but I know a a great many people who have them and use them. If you do lots of DIY work and need to move materials, if you own something like a boat or a large camper and need to tow it. Even some people who just like helping their friends when they need to move something big and strangely shaped.
They don't make sense for everyone, and lots of people just buy them because it makes them feel more powerful or masculine or some bullshit (which I blame on the advertisers), but just like any car they have their purpose and some people lead a life that lends itself well to owning a truck.
You could do most of that stuff in an SUV, but trucks are often simpler and/or easier to keep clean. Like I said, not my thing, but they're not completely pointless.
